128x128 Analog Video Block Diagram

Overview

This is a traditional crosspoint routing switcher system for analog video 1 V p-p 75 ohm 10 MHz signals. The minimum size (inputs x outputs) is 32 x 16 and the maximum 128 x 128+. It is based on 16 x 16 crosspoint IC’s. Board to board interconnects use wideband shielded Ribbon-ax cables. There are level adjustments at both the inputs and the outputs and frequency response adjustments only at the outputs. 

Input

The analog input module terminates (75 ohm), buffers and distributes 32 analog video signals to the crosspoint/output modules. Each input buffer has 2 outputs for connection to the crosspoint modules for reduced bus loading in large systems. Each 2 level ribbon connector pair (upper and lower ) is identical so either can be used depending cabling requirements. There is a signal level adjustment at each input to accommodate problem inputs. These are adjusted at the factory for unity gain. 

Crosspoint/Output

These modules are a combination crosspoint/output functions. Each 2 level ribbon connector pair (upper and lower) is bussed together for signal connection to lower crosspoint/output modules in the chain. Each crosspoint/output module has a maximum size of 128 x 16 (total 8 crosspoint IC’s). Different versions also can be partially assembled to a maximum of 64 inputs (total 4 crosspoint IC’s) or 32 inputs (total 2 crosspoint IC’s) for lower cost smaller systems. Each of the 16 outputs of the crosspoint IC’s are bussed together and connected to an output amplifier. The output amplifier has a gain of 2 for source termination, a frequency adjustment (set at factory) and a gain adjustment (set at factory for unity).
